I bought this jewel 22May1976, for the sum of $200.00. It was
stripped down to a very basic motorcycle, and covered in black paint.
Everything! The crankcase serial/production numbers make it a Type
I-B (second of seven possible models produced for the War Effort).
The pictures will be a few at a time, but keep on the lookout for
changes. Also, go to my FOR SALE page, as I will post items there
as I decide what to sell and make pictures. This will be my way of
funding my restoration.

42WLA Type I-B - Technical Info
Photos of my restoration progress
I have become inspired to begin documentation of what my WLA will need
for restoration. I decided to start with the finish of the first
component to be restored, the engine. I will be using Bruce Palmer III's
book 'How to Restore Your Miltary Harley-Davidson 1932-1952' as my first
reference guide. I will, also, use Dave Thomas' 42WLA Forum on Yahoo as
a source to contact others who own anywhere from complete basket-case WLA's,
to running restorations. Dave is an active WWII Reenactor with a WLA that
he takes on the road to all types of events. Check out his Forum, if you
are interested in these old bikes:
Also, check out his home page for pictures of his outfit:
Here is the worksheet of the engine, so far:
I will be posting pictures of my progress on WebShots, to conserve space here.
